DOMO Chemical Expands Thermoc Enhanced Polymer Series, Launches PEEK Solution to Replace PAI

DOMO Chemical has expanded its Thermoc-enhanced polymer series by introducing a cost-effective product based on polyether ether ketone (PEEK) mixed with solid polymer lubricants. This new solution is now available in India and is specifically developed to replace polyamideimide (PAI) without compromising performance.

Thermec K is an innovative experimental product developed in Domer's laboratory in Mumbai, India. This is a huge market for friction and wear resistant materials. The solution is suitable for many industrial applications, including bushings and bearings, aerospace components, pump and valve components, medical device parts, and food processing machinery components.

“Generally speaking, due to the different types of polymers contained in the material, the mechanical properties of PAI are higher than those of PEEK-based parts. However, it is also more expensive,” explained Tushar Parida, DOMO India regional manager. “However, through us With the careful design of the Indian development team, we have been able to match the friction and wear performance and dry lubrication performance of PAI in the PEEK-based solution."

DOMO`s Mumbai team has proven that Thermoc K is suitable for a variety of applications, especially at temperatures up to 200°C, with low wear, low coefficient of friction and high load-bearing resistance. In addition, compared with 1.42 g/cm3 PAI solution, its density is lower at 1.32 g/cm3.

In addition to providing tribological properties similar to PAI, Thermec K can also be processed using standard injection molding processes. This means that there is no need to use complex cold injection molding equipment and lengthy steam curing processes. Thermec K has a series of advantages, including special properties at high temperatures, chemical resistance and mechanical strength to strong wear resistance, fatigue resistance and dielectric strength.

DOMO is playing an increasingly important role in the high-performance polymer market. They have developed a wide range of Thermoc products to meet specific application requirements. The enhanced polymer series uses a new solution based on polyphthalamide (PPA): Thermoc N; polyphenylene sulfide (PPS): Thermec S; polyether ether ketone (PEEK): Thermec K.
