Dow Chemical cooperates with Chinese new energy manufacturers to apply new high-strength, lightweight and environmentally-friendly materials to new energy production vehicles.

The Dow Chemical in the United States is working closely with Chinese innovative travel technology company Chinese Express, and the new high-strength, lightweight, and environmentally friendly materials will be applied for the first time to the first new energy production vehicle launched by Chinese Express at the end of 2020.

Chinese Express revealed on the 11th that Jim Fitterling, the global CEO of Dow Chemical, visited the Chinese Express Operation Center. Fettering said that the Chinese market is the future strategic focus of Dow Chemical. Dow Chemical will further expand R & D investment in China and increase investment in the automotive sector.

Ding Lei, Chairman and CEO of Chinese Express, introduced that at the beginning of product development, Chinese Express established an innovative cooperation mechanism with Dow Chemical, and the two parties pooled advantageous resources to develop a combination of three major directions: safety structure, environmentally friendly interior, and lightweight. R & D has broken the usual combination model among OEMs, component suppliers and raw material companies. Starting from the innovation of underlying materials, it has formed a breakthrough and exemplary cross-border innovation paradigm in the industry, with the purpose of creating future-oriented travel products.

It is reported that the technical research and development projects of Chinese Express and Dow Chemical are progressing smoothly. The two parties will use a new generation of structural foam materials for the first mass-produced cars. Under multiple international safety standards, it will significantly improve the strength of the body and improve the safety of the vehicle. These materials are also used for the first time in new energy vehicles.

Fitling emphasized that China is one of the most important markets for Dow Chemical, and will work with Chinese Express to grasp the cutting-edge innovation trends and apply more innovative and environmentally friendly materials to top automotive products.
