Dow Corning DA-6650 chip adhesive strives to increase production and reliability of high-sensitivity MEMS sensors

Midland, Michigan, May 18, 2017-Dow Corning, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Dow Chemical, a global leader in silicones and silicon-based technology, today announced the introduction of an advanced new material that further enriches its growing MEMS ( MEMS) sensor solution portfolio. The new Dow Corning® DA-6650 chip adhesive combines low modulus characteristics, a wide temperature range, and patented filler technology to minimize cracking of small MEMS chips during package assembly. Dow Corning's new adhesives are suitable for single or stacked chips, helping to increase the yield and reliability of camera sensors, high-sensitivity MEMS sensors such as sensors for pressure, temperature, and other indicators.

"The continued rapid growth of MEMS sensor applications has further increased the already considerable pressure on packaging and assembly companies and MEMS designers to continuously improve product output and quality," said Gary Aw, Dow Corning Marketing Manager. "This innovative material is An excellent example of a proactive approach to meeting industry challenges. Through close collaboration with customers, this new Dow Corning® DA-6650 chip adhesive specially developed by Dow Corning can solve customers' most difficult assembly problems And meet the needs of this fast-growing industry. "

Dow Corning® DA-6650 chip adhesive is a one-component silicone formulation that uses an innovative silicone elastomer filler that absorbs mechanical stress during chip bonding and helps reduce cracking And maximize output. After curing, the material can maintain a low modulus of 3.9 MPa in the temperature range of -55 ° C to 200 ° C, so that the MEMS sensor can provide stable measurement capability in a large temperature change cycle.

Dow Corning® DA-6650 chip adhesive is a solvent-free material with low water absorption. Like other silicone materials in Dow Corning's advanced assembly portfolio, it has superior thermal stability over organic materials.
