Dow Corning Introduces Five Optical Encapsulants Maintain light and thermal stability and reliability at 150 ° C

On February 28, Dow Corning, a global leader in organic silicon, silicon-based technology and innovation, launched five new optical encapsulants (OEs).

These five new products are OE-7840, OE-7841, OE-7843, OE-7810 and OE-7820 optical encapsulants, all of which belong to the Dow Corning® brand series.

It is divided into two different categories for performance, both of which can maintain excellent photothermal stability and reliability at 150 ° C continuous high temperature.

These five products not only further enrich Dow Corning's rapidly growing LED innovative solution portfolio, but also greatly enhance the design flexibility of current LED packaging manufacturers. Due to their ultra-high thermal and optical stability, as well as optimized refractive index, hardness, and gas barrier properties, these five products also enhance the design freedom of ultra-high-power LED packaging solutions, such as ceramic-based SMD (surface mount device), COB (chip on-board) and PLCC (plastic leaded chip carrier) packages.

Three of these products provide OEMs with optimized refractive indices and other features to improve the efficiency and reliability of high-power PLCC LED packages. These three products are: Dow Corning® OE-7840, Dow Corning® OE-7841, and Dow Corning® OE-7843 optical encapsulant.

OE-7840 and OE-7841 have refractive indices as high as 1.5 and 1.48 respectively, enabling designers to optimize light output while ensuring that their LED packages have good gas barrier properties.

OE-7843 encapsulant has a refractive index of 1.5, which is the highest of the three products, and has good silver sheet corrosion resistance, which helps high-power PLCC LED packages to withstand harsh environmental challenges.

The two new products, Dow Corning® OE-7810 and Dow Corning® OE-7820, are specifically targeted at high-power COB and ceramic-based SMD LED packages with extremely high heat resistance rather than the corrosion resistance of silver flakes . They are available in different hardnesses, are designed to improve durability, and can be tailored to design parameters.

OE-7810 encapsulant provides hardness options up to 55A, making it suitable for packaging applications requiring higher elongation and improving durability under thermal cycling. The hardness of OE-7820 encapsulant is as high as 70A, with higher hardness and better operability, and it can minimize dust adsorption.
