DSM unveils UL certified 3D printed flame retardant polyamide PA6 / 66 filament material: Novamid AM1030 FR

DSM introduced the flame-retardant polyamide (PA) filament material Novamid AM1030 FR for the first time, which is the first open-system flame-retardant polyamide filament certified by UL Blue Card. The material can be used in new applications in the automotive and electronics industries.

The UL Blue Card certified flame retardant Novamid rating provides an attractive solution for manufacturers seeking easy-to-use flame retardant materials that operate in their open systems. The material is certified as V0 at 1.6 mm and 3.2 mm thickness, and V2 at 0.85 mm thickness. Based on the advantages of DSM Novamid technology, PA6 / 66 materials provide manufacturers with high-performance solutions suitable for automotive and electronics applications.

The material was tested in a UL-certified laboratory, and one of the components was built on DSM ’s partner Ultiaker`s S5 printer. Combination of UL blue card certified materials and printers. However, since the flame retardant Novamid AM1030 FR is an open system material, any and all manufacturers of molten filament manufacturing systems that can use an open platform can use this new material.

Nirali Surati, Product Manager, DSM Additive Manufacturing, said: "Transferring additive manufacturing to full-scale industrial production requires more materials to meet customer and market needs. This innovation in flame retardant materials is needed to meet government and industry flammability requirements. The application of sex management standards provides affordable 3D printing. "

Novamid AM1030 FR is a halogen-free material, which is a logical choice for manufacturers looking for environmentally friendly, high-performance materials.

Stefan Weyrich, UltiMaker`s materials business development manager, noted: “Due to the continued penetration of 3D printing in industrial applications, we have noticed the increasing end-user demand for FFF 3D printing standardization, predictability and reliability. Thanks to Dice With the cooperation between Mann and UltiMaker, industrial customers can now produce UL-certified functional parts. "

Weyrich added: "UL blue card certification enables many applications in the electrical and electronic fields. This certification is particularly applicable to the combination of Novamid AM1030 FR material and UltiMaker S5. Ultiaker S5 is our easy-to-use 3D printer with large assembly Volume, high uptime, and reliable double extrusion were created specifically to provide accurate industrial grade parts. "
