Electrolube develops plant-based epoxy resin and polyurethane resin

Electrolube, a professional electronic chemical manufacturer, announced that its new sustainable series of epoxy and polyurethane resins have achieved great success in India. The new "Bio" resin series was originally designed to provide customers with cost-effective and good-performance alternatives to traditional resins using locally sourced materials. The cost-driven incentives led by Electrolube's Indian and British R&D teams explored the use of a more environmentally friendly plant isocyanate to replace some of the raw materials. The answer lies in a local plant-based material that is suitable for recycling and pressing to produce a natural oil that is the perfect partner for epoxy resins and provides a good mixing ratio of biomass by weight.

The new biological series includes two epoxy resins, ER6006 and ER7006. ER6006 is a two-component high thermal conductivity epoxy resin encapsulating resin with good flow characteristics and can be used to encapsulate LED driver units with complex geometries. ER6006 has high chemical resistance and excellent protection in various environments, making it suitable for indoor and outdoor applications. It provides good adhesion to a wide range of substrates, and has the characteristics of fast heat dissipation (2.65W/mk), which helps to extend the service life of electronic products. ER6006 has a curing time of 1 hour at 100°C, a curing time of 3 hours at 60°C, and a curing time of 24 hours at room temperature.

ER7006 is a two-part unfilled viscous epoxy resin, very suitable for UPS connectors, closed-circuit television camera cable gland sealing, wiring harness adhesives, encapsulation, bonding and potting of electronic components. The ratio of ER7006 is 1:1, which is easy to process, has high adhesive strength, excellent adhesion to a variety of substrates and high level of mechanical stability. ER7006 is resistant to alkali, acid and saline solution, has excellent flexibility, impact resistance and corrosion resistance, and provides a wide operating temperature range of -40 to +150°C, and has excellent high temperature performance. The curing time of ER7006 at 80°C is 30 minutes, and the curing time at room temperature is 24 hours.

Electrolube's new Bio series of polyurethane resins include tough and durable UR5528 two-component potting compound with a biological content of up to 63.29%. UR5528 is black and has a maximum temperature of 125°C. It has excellent chemical resistance in various chemicals, acids, alkalis, glycols and solvents, so it is very suitable for use in exposed places. UR5528 is also the best choice for marine electronic equipment. This may be due to its excellent water resistance. Ingress of moisture is a potential problem.

Electrolube's UR5638 transparent LED encapsulating compound has a biological content of 31.67%. It is an optically transparent polyurethane resin composed of aliphatic polymers and is designed to provide excellent UV stability and good visible spectrum transmission. This makes it an ideal choice for packaging white LEDs, and because of its low heat dissipation value, it is also suitable for packaging larger LED units. UR5638 is a tough resin that has excellent environmental performance for indoor and outdoor LEDs while maintaining clarity. UR5638 has excellent acid resistance, alkali resistance, water resistance and mildew resistance, and is suitable for various indoor or outdoor applications.

Electrolube's high temperature polyurethane resin UR5645 has an excellent biological content of 63.33%. UR5645 is suitable for a wide range of applications, including automotive and marine environments. UR5645 is a black resin with an operating temperature range of -50 to +150°C (the short-term excursion time of 160°C is 30 minutes, depending on the application And geometric shapes). Low-viscosity resin facilitates a fast and effective potting process and is suitable for applications that require continuous immersion in water at high temperatures and depths. The highly versatile UR5645 exhibits excellent acid, alkali and fuel chemistry resistance, making it ideal for the harshest environmental conditions, such as typical automotive applications.

Padmanabha Shakthivelu, General Manager of Electrolube India, commented: "Electrolube is a leader in manufacturing factory-based electronic chemical products, providing customers with resins with a biological content of more than 30% and up to 60%, which illustrates the wide range of products. We are Collaborating with colleagues in the UK to develop resources to develop specific bio-based resins with a biological content of up to 90% will be excellent."

Ron Jakeman, General Manager of Electrolube, commented: "We are very pleased with the response of Indian manufacturers. It is incredible. We are very happy to be at the forefront of the development of plant-based electrochemistry. The international reputation of responsible and sustainable manufacturers is ahead of us, and we continue to develop new environmentally friendly products for customers all over the world. Our commitment has also been recognized by the iso14001 standard, which applies to the high efficiency we established in Electrolube Environmental management system. Our R&D team has been determining the requirements of local manufacturers, and we have developed the Bio series of products to use locally sourced materials to meet these cost-effective high-performance resin requirements. We have a new biological series We are confident in the performance and reliability of our products, so we plan to launch a series of new bio-based conformal coatings and thermal management solutions. Now, we are looking to expand plant-based alternatives in all of our product groups to promote globally Many other regions."
