Material supplier Evonik recently announced that the company has launched a 3D printed implant-grade polyetheretherketone (PEEK) filament suitable for medical applications, which is the first in the world. This new material allows customized plastic implants to be 3D printed while meeting ASTM F2026, which is the standard specification for PEEK polymers in surgical implant applications.
Vestakeep i4 3DF filament uses Evonik's viscous high-performance Vestakeep i4 G. With biocompatibility, biostability and radiation, filaments are produced under clean room conditions and meet strict medical material quality management standards.
This high-performance material was developed for fuse manufacturing technology. The natural color PEEK filament is 1.75 mm in diameter and is wound on a 250 g or 500 g spool. It is suitable for standard FFF 3D printers of PEEK materials.
