Evonik launches INFINAM® PEEK 9359 F (PEEK) wire for industrial-grade 3D printing

High temperature resistant PEEK material added to the product portfolio

Ready-to-use 3D printed polymer filaments can be used as metal substitutes for industrial applications

INFINAM® PEEK is suitable for conventional melt extrusion 3D printing technology (such as FFF, FDM)

Evonik launched a new 3D printed polyether ether ketone (PEEK) filament product with high temperature resistance and chemical resistance. This ready-to-use material is particularly suitable for the rapid prototyping of demanding industrial-grade plastic parts. This high-performance polymer can be processed by conventional melt-extrusion 3D printing techniques, such as fused filament manufacturing (FFF) or fused deposition modeling (FDM). The material is now marketed under the brand name INFINAM® PEEK 9359 F.

INFINAM® PEEK as a metal substitute for industrial 3D printing applications

INFINAM® PEEK 9359 F is a new type of wire used in industrial 3D printing applications. This natural-colored PEEK filament has a diameter of 1.75 mm and is wound on a wire spool, which can be directly used in a standard PEEK material FF/FDM 3D printer. Due to its high mechanical strength, hydrolysis resistance, and good flame retardancy, this material is particularly suitable for the production of lightweight, high-performance 3D printed parts in the aerospace, automotive, and oil and gas industries.

Compared with stainless steel, 3D printed parts made of INFINAM® PEEK 9359 F can reduce weight by about 80%, increase toughness by 30%, and have excellent fatigue resistance. Therefore, this high-performance material is particularly suitable for demanding lightweight applications. INFINAM® PEEK 9359 F also has excellent wear resistance and low sliding friction coefficient, making it an ideal material for manufacturing lightweight structural parts.

Industrial and medical grade 3D printing filaments

"Following the commercial success of medical-grade PEEK wire, we are expanding our product portfolio and now include industrial-grade materials." said Sylvia Monsheimer, head of additive manufacturing and new 3D printing technology at Evonik. We continue to develop new types of wire, powder or photopolymer materials to expand the existing material choices and meet the market’s needs for exploring new material manufacturing applications."

Evonik focuses on providing new solutions for the innovative growth areas of additive manufacturing. Its strategic focus is to develop and manufacture new high-performance materials for mainstream 3D printing technology. To facilitate customer selection, Evonik categorizes products suitable for additive manufacturing applications under the INFINAM® brand.
