Evonik has broken ground for its largest investment in Germany to date in the chemical industrial park in the German city of Mar, and has built a new polyamide 12 (PA12) plant to increase its production capacity by more than 50%. Local North Rhine-Westphalia Federal Government Governor Armin Laschet, Evonik Chairman of the Board Christian Kullmann, as well as customer representatives and employee representatives attended the groundbreaking ceremony.
Armin Laschet, Governor of the Federal Government of North Rhine-Westphalia, said: Evonik's investment in an ultra-modern production base in the region shows that North Rhine-Westphalia is an ideal chemical industry region in Germany. Singapore and some other countries have attracted this investment and construction with large tax incentives, but ultimately decided to choose Malm because of our well-established chemical and energy industry structure, which can maximize our global competitive advantage.
Christian Kullmann, chairman of the board of directors of Evonik, said: The plant is by far the company's largest single investment project in Germany. We are committed to R & D and innovation to ensure the continued growth of chemicals, so we are building this plant. With PA12, a high-performance polymer product, we are able to meet the growth of global markets such as the 3D printing field, and in the automotive field, lightweight and durable plastics also play an important role.
