Evonik recently announced that it will focus its chemicals business on specialty chemicals and divestiture its assets at its Jayhawk plant in Glena, Kansas, USA. The plant produces precursors for agrochemicals and is not included in the growth business defined by Evonik.
Christian Cullman, Chairman of Evonik's Executive Board, said: "We hope to continue to achieve profitable growth in the specialty chemicals sector. If different owners can make the company's business better, have a better future, Evonik Willing to abandon the business or plant. This sale is another step towards optimizing our portfolio and will open up new opportunities for us to target growth in our growth engine. "
