Ford Motor Company and Michigan State University have updated and expanded their collaborative research alliance to further collaborate in many different areas, enabling the university to showcase its expertise and create for Ford customers More new features.
The alliance has expanded its four-year partnership to enable innovations focused on sensors, lightweight materials, autonomous driving technology, and mobility.
Ford chose to expand its partnership with Michigan State University because the company has previously collaborated with the university on many successful projects, including the development of advanced engines, composite materials, and information technology. Academic and industrial R & D partnerships have been proven to develop, refine, and achieve successful collaboration results.
Since 2014, Ford has invested in more than 50 projects at Michigan State University to conduct research in the areas of powertrain, materials and electrification. Now, expanding collaboration and enriching research proposals, the new research portfolio will include existing and new Michigan State University faculty and students, as well as Ford researchers.
As Ford continues to strengthen its core automotive business while developing emerging business opportunities and new mobility solutions, the company believes that its research alliance with Michigan State University will further enhance its technological capabilities.
