Forward AM, BASF's 3D printing division, has launched its new Ultrafuse 17-4 PH wire.
The 17-4 stainless steel-based material includes metal powder in a polymer matrix and is designed for safe and cost-effective metal printing on most common FFF systems. 17-4 PH is intended for the production of prototypes, metal tools and functional components, bringing the high performance of metal into the affordable desktop printing field.
Firat Hizal, Head of Metal Systems Division of BASF 3D Printing Solutions, said: "Ultrafuse 17-4 PH is an outstanding result of our firm R&D commitment. During this year, we used more than 10 different metal wires, from titanium to tools. Grade steel, as well as several alternative materials to print the support structure. Looking ahead, we will continue to introduce new filaments that the market and customers demand."
