French Soitec Semiconductor Corporation has announced that it has reached a final agreement of 30 million euros in cash with EpiGaN, a supplier of GaN epitaxial silicon wafer materials in Europe. Founded in 2010, EpiGaN's technology can be applied to power supplies for 5G infrastructure, the Internet of Things and smart sensor systems. GaN products can be used in RF, 5G, electronic components and sensor applications.
With the acquisition of EpiGaN, Soitec's silicon portfolio will be further expanded and supplemented to create new process solutions for RF, 5G and power systems. EpiGaN will be integrated into a business unit of Soitec.
In addition, the acquisition of EpiGaN will create new growth space for Soitec's existing Power-SOI products.
