GE Additive announces opening of new 40,000 square meter center in Lichtenfels, Germany

GE Additive has announced the opening of a new 40,000 square meter center in Lichtenfels, Germany. It is reported that, as the new official location of GE Additive Concept Laser, the new center in Bavaria will help additive manufacturing experts meet the growing customer demand and the need to transform to the additive manufacturing process.

 

Bernd Sibler, Bavarian Minister of Science and Technology, and local politicians and business partners attended the opening ceremony.

According to reports, the new center will provide 700 jobs, and the current relocation of the Concept Laser Center is in an orderly manner. GE Additive said that the office building is still under construction and is expected to be completed in 2020, when the remaining Concept Laser Center will be relocated.

More and more customers of GE Additive are turning to additive manufacturing series production. In order to meet the growing technical needs, GE Additive has made additional investments in Europe and North America to open manufacturing centers. Recently, the division also opened a new center of excellence for its Arcam EBM system in Gothenburg, Sweden.
