German X-FAB factory cooperates with DOE to deploy high temperature injector

X-FAB Silicon Foundry in Erfurt, Germany, announced that it has partnered with the United States Department of Energy (DOE) and a new-generation innovation institute led by North Carolina State University to deploy high-temperature ions at its Lubbock, Texas plant Injection machine. It is understood that the Lubbock factory is the first semiconductor factory in the world to support 6-inch silicon carbide (SiC) production.

"With the installation and reference of this high-temperature plasma implanter, we are now ready to support our customers, as silicon carbide will evolve from forming to mass production in 2017. This means they will be in a 6-inch silicon carbide (SiC) crystal "The forefront of transformation," said Andy Wilson, director of strategic business development for X-FAB Texas. "The continuous support of the US Department of Energy and the US Forces is our greatest help in the next stage. They help X-Fab in the next phase. The relevant areas of this exciting new technology and ensuring its full realization have a significant impact, "he added.
