Global automotive electronics supplier Visteon reports second-quarter sales and 3.3% decline

In the context of automobile downturns, OEMs frequently report layoffs and suspensions. The OEM's sales in the terminal market continue to decline, and it is natural for the downstream component companies to get better. You can get a glimpse of the financial reports released recently by listed companies.

On August 7, Visteon, a global automotive electronics supplier in the United States, officially released its second quarter 2019 financial report. According to the financial report, Visteon's sales in the second quarter of 2019 were US $ 733 million (approximately 5.148 billion yuan), a decrease of 3.3% compared with US $ 758 million (approximately 5.148 billion yuan) in the same period of 2018. In terms of geographical distribution, Europe accounted for 31% of sales, Americas accounted for 27%, China accounted for 16%, China's exports accounted for 8%, and other Asia-Pacific regions accounted for 18%.

In this regard, Visteon officials said that the decline in sales was mainly due to reduced car production, customer pricing and adverse currency fluctuations, which partially offset the growth brought about by new businesses and previous mergers of non-affiliates.

It is understood that the new business mentioned by Visteon mainly refers to smart cockpit electronics. From the data point of view, in the first half of 2019, Visteon's $ 3.2 billion new global business, smart cockpit electronics accounted for more than 60%.

Right now, although autonomous driving is becoming a hot area in which the automotive industry is rushing to develop, based on various realistic factors, it is still a long time from large-scale use. In the process, smart cockpits have become a transitional solution for companies before they finally achieve fully autonomous driving. A variety of product forms such as car screens, voice assistants, smart meters, and head-up displays make the smart cockpit an important window for visualizing abstract technology to users.

It is reported that the industry's first SmartCore ™ domain controller developed by Visteon has won three projects. In particular, in Visteon's business, more than a third of new business orders came from the application of electric vehicle platforms.

In response, Visteon President and CEO Sachin Lawande said: "Although the global automotive environment is challenging and production is declining, our sales performance in the second quarter is still better than the industry average. New business opportunities continue to emerge. , Which also strengthens our confidence in the long-term prospects of our business. "

According to Sachin Lawande, Visteon is currently working with a European car manufacturer on a color-screen audio entertainment system based on Android, and a multi-screen display module with a South Korean car manufacturer. In addition, Visteon is working with a Chinese automaker on a cross-platform SmartCore ™ cockpit domain controller.
