HIGH PERFORMANCE ALLOYS ENGINEERED FOR HARSH ENVIRONMENTS

USMA supplies superior high performance alloys that enhance and enable new technologies in demanding markets. In addition to a broad portfolio of alloy products, we provide metallurgical and engineering support and service around the globe.

Available alloys include copper beryllium, nickel beryllium and non-beryllium containing materials. We engineer alloys to meet specific property requirements that exceed the capabilities of traditional materials.

A DIVERSE ALLOY PRODUCT PORTFOLIO FOR CRITICAL APPLICATIONS

Whether you are looking for a non-galling, corrosion resistant alloy for heavy equipment bearings or a connector alloy that maintains its strength in high temperature environments, we have alloys to meet your requirements.

Our high performance alloys are available in strip, rod, wire, bar, tube and plate forms. They include:

Copper Beryllium Alloys

Copper beryllium (CuBe) alloys offer a unique combination of strength, conductivity, hardness and corrosion resistance. They are also non-magnetic and non-sparking. As a result, they provide many advantages in demanding end-use applications that operate in harsh environments , including oil and gas downhole drilling tools, undersea telecommunications components, computer burn-in and test sockets (BiTS), medical connectors, switches and relays, aerospace bushing, as well as automotive wire harnesses and connectors.

USMA manufactures copper beryllium rod, bar, wire, tube, plate, strip, forgings, and extrusions in several distinct compositions to meet specific property requirements.

BENEFITS OF USING COPPER BERYLLIUM ALLOYS

Copper beryllium alloys are essential in today’s electronics, automotive, telecommunications, aerospace and oil and gas applications, ensuring improved performance, durability and reliability over other materials.

The benefits of copper beryllium alloys include:

High strength – the greatest strength (up to 1,400 MPa / 200,000 psi) of all copper-based alloys

Conductivity – maintains flow of electrical and thermal energy

Improved miniaturization – smaller parts and connectors have high repetitive cycle life and can be easily formed into complex shapes

Excellent stress relaxation – retains contact force at elevated temperatures for high reliability

Durability – resists wear, corrosion and galling better than most other copper alloys.

In addition, microelectronics devices made with copper beryllium alloys are more energy efficient, conserve natural resources and extend product life.

Copper Nickel Tin Alloys

The properties of USMA`s high-strength, copper-nickel-tin alloys provide significant performance advantages for demanding applications in harsh environments, ranging from aerospace bearings to heavy equipment linkage bushings to oil and gas equipment components and industrial power train bushings.

Copper Nickel Tin Alloys resist galling, corrosion and wear, and when used for bushings and bearings, they last longer and carry more load than those made of other materials.

200 STRIP ALLOY: HIGH CONDUCTIVITY. HIGH STRENGTH. EXCELLENT FORMABILITY.

As electronics become more compact, design engineers are challenged to create smaller parts that can handle higher power, high temperature environments. Engineers must also often use materials that meet requirements for quick turnaround times. QMet 200 alloy is the ideal solution for these challenges.

This copper-chromium-nickel-silicon (CuCrNiSi) alloy offers the strength and conductivity customers need along with the best formability in its class. Further, Materion supports flexible order quantities with fast turn-around times, improving our customers’ responsiveness in industries with demanding build schedules.

300 STRIP ALLOY: HIGHER CONDUCTIVITY. EXCELLENT FORMABILITY.

We are also adding another member to the alloy product family, which enables new designs that were previously unachievable. Our new 300 alloy (copper-chromium-silver) has shown a conductivity greater than all other alloys of similar strength, with sharp formability and stress relaxation resistance comparable to that of copper beryllium. For design engineers, the extra conductivity will allow them to create high current and high heat transfer components for smaller spaces than ever before, making 300 alloy an unmatchable solution in many applications.
