Also according to the latest product catalog of the 2020 version officially released by Hexcel of the United States, Hexcel has launched a PAN-based carbon fiber with excellent ablation resistance-HexTow® 85 carbon fiber.
As a continuous PAN-based carbon fiber, 24K specification tows are currently available. The carbon content of HexTow® 85 carbon fiber is only 85%. Its main purpose is: as a cost-effective ablation resistant product to replace traditional Viscose-based carbon fiber, dedicated to ablation resistance.
HexTow® 85 carbon fiber has similar strength to traditional PAN-based carbon fiber, and its ablation resistance is similar to viscose-based carbon fiber. At present, the ablation performance of carbon-carbon composite materials prepared from this fiber is being compared with traditional viscose-based carbon fiber.
