Hitachi’s metal magnetic materials and power electronics business sales decrease

According to Hitachi Metals Co., Ltd. periodic report-the second quarter of March 2021 joint results (April 1, 2020 ~ September 30, 2020), the sales revenue of its magnetic materials and power electronic devices business compared to the same period last year A decrease of 21.1% to 478.3 million yen.

From the perspective of the sales revenue of each business, among the magnetic materials, rare earth magnets, in addition to the decrease in automotive electrical components, and industrial equipment related to the decrease in demand for machine tools and electronic products, were lower than the same period last year. Ferrite magnets decreased compared with the same period last year due to the decrease in electrical components used in automobiles. The final result of the overall magnetic material is lower than the same period last year.

Among power electronic products, soft magnetic materials and their application products are mainly for server equipment and other information and communication fields. However, due to the decrease of amorphous metal materials used in transformers, sales are lower than the same period last year. On the other hand, the demand for ceramic products for medical devices has increased, but the demand for communication devices and automotive electrical components has decreased, which is lower than the same period last year. The end result is that the overall power electronics has declined compared to the same period last year…
