Leading control equipment and component maker helps Honeywell's non-flammable, low global warming potential (GWP) refrigerant Solstice N41 meet industry safety and environmental goals
Morris Plains, New Jersey, U.S.A., August 14, 2019 – Honeywell Announces Deep Cooperation with ZJSH Automotive Air Conditioning Technology Group, a Global Leading Manufacturer of HVAC and Refrigeration Control Equipment and Automotive Components, to Promote Solstice® N41 (R-466A) Commercialization of existing and new HVAC applications. R-466A is a new type of refrigerant that can replace R-410A in stationary air-conditioning systems. It has both non-flammability and low global warming potential (GWP) characteristics.

Once in commercial use, Solstice N41 will be the first A1 * class, non-flammable, low GWP value R-410A replacement refrigerant for stationary air-conditioning systems. As of now, all other low-GWP R-410A alternatives are flammable, increasing the risks faced by owners and contractors. At the same time, the GWP of Solstice N41 is 65% lower than that of R-410A.

Solstice N41 significantly reduces the need for additional design and sensor installation required for flammability risks. Early test results show that this non-combustible, low GWP R-410A alternative does not require professional training for engineers to reduce flammability. This is a huge plus for the industry as it seeks to recruit and retain qualified engineering contractors.
Prior to this, Solstice N41 had been selected by Toshiba Carrier Corporation as a potential R-410A alternative to meet the requirements of the Kigali Amendment in Japan.
