On April 24, 2023, the Chongqing Maite Optoelectronic Mask Project officially began construction in Liangjiang New Area, with a total investment of 2.2 billion yuan. It is expected to start production next year, and mass production is planned to begin in the fourth quarter of 2024.
Chongqing Maite Optoelectronics Co., Ltd. has settled in Longsheng New City, Liangjiang New Area, jointly funded by HOYA Co., Ltd. and BOE Group. The project is expected to have an annual production capacity of approximately 2250 photomask products after its completion, with a production value of 700 million yuan.
HOYA Co., Ltd. is a leading global manufacturer of photomask plates, with world leading levels in optical imaging, electronic equipment and components, medical devices, and other fields.
The Consul General of the Japanese Consulate General in Chongqing, Masahiro Takada, stated that this project is the first large-scale investment project for photomask production equipment in inland China by a company producing photomask plates in the world.
Cheng Gang, Senior Vice President of BOE Technology Group Co., Ltd., stated that HOYA Corporation's photomask plate production technology is at a global leading level. Since the cooperation in 2011, the two sides have worked together to achieve rapid development and innovative leadership in their respective fields.
The establishment of Chongqing Maite Optoelectronics will assist in industrial optimization and upgrading, and has extremely important strategic significance for improving the supply chain resilience and stability of China and even the global display industry.
