Shanghai, China-Huntsman Functional Products has developed an advanced additive technology specifically designed to enhance the surface energy and polarity of thermoplastic polyolefins, including polypropylene. The technology product-ELASTAMINE® XPM additive will be introduced at the China International Rubber and Plastics Exhibition at the end of April. This is a new technical means to enhance the surface coating of polyolefins.
Thermoplastic polyolefins are widely used in the automotive, packaging, and electronics industries, but their surface energy is low and hydrophobic. Some products require special coatings and treatments when developing. The addition of ELASTAMINE® XPM additives to thermoplastic polyolefin resins is expected to eliminate the need for primer coating on polyolefin surfaces, thereby saving time and costs for plastic manufacturers. In addition, it coincides with the idea of a leaner and more efficient manufacturing process, which can make the production process more efficient.
Huntsman's introduction of ELASTAMINE® XPM additives will attract wide interest from polypropylene compounders, car bumper manufacturers, automotive original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), home appliance OEMs and plastic packaging companies
At this year's China International Rubber & Plastics Exhibition, Huntsman will hold a special demonstration on this new technology, giving visitors the opportunity to learn more about Huntsman's ELASTAMINE® XPM additives.
