Huntsman announced the launch of three new water-based polyurethane technologies that will be promoted at the SIMAC 2019 in Milan, Italy.
The company also revealed details of two new Avalon thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) grades, Avalon65 DHT TPU and Avalon85 AHT TPU, the latest addition to the company's Avalon AHT series.
The company says that it has created a portfolio of innovative fully water-foamed polyether solution solutions that provide excellent flowability and surface clarity.
Daltoped AquaPUR technology provides softer compounds to improve slip resistance.
The technology also enables shoe manufacturers to reduce the weight of their soles by 35%, making them suitable for producing slippers and low-heeled sandals.
Huntsman said Daltoped AquaPUR technology is designed for shoe manufacturers who want to switch to water-based systems but don't want to compromise on quality.
This technology is suitable for direct processing and casting of unit soles and midsoles, and is compatible with standard polyurethane processing machines.
