Idemitsu Kosan to build OLED material plant in China

On December 3, the global OLED material manufacturer Idemitsu Kosansan issued a press release announcing that in order to provide Chinese customers with more stable material supply, the company decided to build an OLED material manufacturing plant in China. The new plant is expected to start in December 2018 and be completed in November 2019, with an annual capacity of 12 tons of equipment.

Idemitsu Kosan was established in 2007 in Mizenzaki, Shizuoka Prefecture, and established an OLED material plant in Paju, Gyeonggi-do, Korea, in 2012. So far, it has mainly provided materials to Korean customers.

The new base is located in Chengdu, Sichuan, and will become the third manufacturing base of Idemitsu Kogyo. It is planned to officially begin commercial production in the first quarter of 2020, with an annual capacity of 12 tons of equipment.

Idemitsu Kosan said that in recent years, more and more products, including smart phones and large-sized TVs, have begun to use OLED display panels. In China, the government vigorously promotes the revitalization policy of the display panel industry. Against this background, large display panel manufacturers have taken the lead in increasing investment in OLED display panel manufacturing equipment, which indicates that China will inevitably develop into an OLED display panel. Big producing country.

In addition, Idemitsu Kosan pointed out that the establishment of the plant will not affect the company's consolidated financial results for fiscal 2018.
