In the aviation field, the forging and casting tasks of OEMs have shifted from internal manufacturing to external specialized forging and casting enterprises

The upstream of aviation forging and casting companies are mainly suppliers of various raw materials, including high-temperature alloys, titanium alloys, aluminum alloys, special steels and other metal materials. Due to the high requirements of aviation materials, these materials often have strong specificity and independent brands. Compared with traditional materials in terms of performance, price, and number of suppliers, it has a certain bargaining power. Forging and casting enterprises are responsible for processing raw materials into parts blanks, which are then machined or directly delivered to aviation structural parts manufacturers, assembled into structural sections, and finally delivered by the main assembly plant.

In the past, the production of structural parts, parts and even forging and castings was mainly handled by factories inside the main engine factory system. However, as the scale of the commercial aviation industry continues to expand, scattered processing facilities include production efficiency, production costs, professionalism, and standardization. It has been unable to adapt to new demands, and the OEMs also believe that more resources should be concentrated on high-value links such as market sales, aircraft research and development, and final assembly to gain a competitive advantage.

In this context, the production of forging and casting parts first overflowed, and then gradually developed into the machining and structural parts business. The entire process proceeds from upstream to downstream, from simple to complex, and from edge to core. The largest Spirit AeroSystems was developed after the spin-off of Boeing's Wichita factory in 2005.

At present, a number of professional aviation structural parts suppliers have been formed in the world. The main manufacturers of the four major aviation structural parts of fuselage, wing, tail and engine support (accounting for no less than 0~5%) are all 10 Above home.
