INVISTA to bring the latest adiponitrile technology to China to build a world-class factory by 2023

INVISTA has launched plans to bring the latest adiponitrile technology to China to meet the huge demand for nylon 6,6 chemical intermediates here. The design and planning of the plant has begun, with a planned investment of more than US $ 1 billion and an annual output of at least 300,000 tons of adiponitrile. The goal is to start construction in 2020 and start production in 2023.

Mr. Kyle Redinger, Vice President of INVISTA Intermediate Asia Pacific and winner of the 2017 Shanghai Magnolia Memorial Award, has accepted the new position and is committed to meeting China's long-term demand for adiponitrile through investment, plant construction and commercial cooperation.

"Given China's strong demand for adiponitrile and its commitment to advanced, energy-efficient technologies, INVISTA's butadiene-based adiponitrile is the best choice for capital investment in China," Mr. Redinger said. "Invista provides more adiponitrile to the market than any other producer, so we want to ensure that these customers have the best technology. Our most recent world-class plant was built 35 years ago, so this is now A special period for the industry; I am very proud to lead the project for this new plant in INVISTA. "

INVISTA has been approaching several customers and industry professionals to jointly develop cooperation strategies and focus on meeting the local demand for adiponitrile in China. Adiponitrile is used in the production of nylon intermediates, fibers and other special materials such as hexamethylene diisocyanate (HDI) used in coatings.

Mr. Bill Greenfield, President of INVISTA Intermediate Business, said, "We are very pleased with the market feedback we have received. We believe that agreements will be reached with selected partners in the coming months, and our shareholders have agreed to advance this project. This decision by INVISTA, based on large-scale investment in our existing adiponitrile plants around the world, further demonstrates our commitment to the global development of the nylon industry. "

Over the past five years, INVISTA has invested more than $ 600 million in China to support the nylon market, including a 215,000-tonne hexamethylene diamine (HMD) plant and a 150,000-tonne polymer plant in the Shanghai Chemical Industry Park (SCIP). . For decades, INVISTA has also made improvements to the technology for many generations, and recently deployed the latest technology in the United States to set a production record.

"Invista has been increasing production capacity to meet market demand and will continue to do so in the future," Mr Greenfield said. "We understand the industry's recognition of our technology, so we have been working hard to continuously improve. We are glad that the government has always supported our project and look forward to working with relevant departments again to promote further development."
