Japanese cable maker Sumitomo Electric plans to open a new production plant in western Romania and plans to officially launch the project in early November. The move is a long-term strategy for the Sumitomo Group to concentrate its Romanian manufacturing capabilities. When completed, the new plant will be the fourth plant in the Romanian market.
The new plant includes two production halls with a total area of 3,000 square meters. It currently recruits about 200 employees and is expected to create 1,000 new jobs in the coming year.
The Sumitomo Group is headquartered in Daiba, Japan, and has construction plants in 24 countries around the world. Its main suppliers are Toyota, Logo, Renault, General Motors, Mazda, Honda and others.
