According to the Nikkan Kogyo Shimbun, Japan's small and medium-sized panel giant Japan Display Inc (JDI) will launch flexible liquid crystal panel products using resin films in 2019 to counter Samsung's OLED panels.
At the same time, JDI will also continue to develop OLED panels. The goal is to identify differentiated technologies and production process technologies, and build a production system that can meet the needs of customers and can provide stable supply of liquid crystal and OLED.
Compared with liquid crystal panels, the advantages of OLEDs at this stage are that they have higher design freedom and can be bent. JDI pointed out that compared to the flexible OLED panel with a pixel density of about 400ppi, the flexible FULL ACTIVE panel can reach about 800ppi, and the flexible FULL ACTIVE will be comparable to OLED in terms of thickness and frame design, In terms of power saving performance, it will be better than OLED, and its life and cost will be much better than OLED.
