Kaneka officially launches North American carbon fiber and glass fiber prepreg business

Kaneka's subsidiary installed new automatic film and prepreg equipment at its Benicia, California plant, capable of producing 50-inch wide prepreg tapes with an area ranging from 140-1100 gsm.

Kaneka Aerospace LLC/Kaneka Aerospace LLC, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Kaneka Americas Holding Inc. (Pasadena, Texas) announced the start of its prepreg business in Benicia, California .

The most advanced new film and prepreg equipment has been installed and can now be used normally. According to reports, the combination of these new features with existing resin manufacturing capabilities will expand Kaneka Aerospace's position in the value chain of existing and future customers.

The highly automated production line is equipped with in-process quality control instruments that can realize real-time defect identification and process adjustment. The new equipment is capable of producing carbon fiber and glass fiber prepregs with a weight per unit area of ​​140 to 1,100 gsm and a width of up to 50 inches.

Kaneka's technical core capabilities include high-temperature and high-strength materials, and the future focus is on environmentally friendly solutions. The company stated that it will strive to introduce new high-performance composite materials to the market at a faster rate of development; Kaneka has also invested heavily in laboratories with mechanical, physical and analytical testing capabilities to achieve these goals.
