Kyocera acquired H.C. Starck and Friatec

Friatec Co., Ltd. is a company that produces and sells ceramics and plastic components, with more than 150 years of ceramic innovation experience.

According to Friatec’s website, Friatec’s ceramics business unit is mainly engaged in high-performance ceramic products, and its products have been widely used in various high-tech fields, such as chemical, medical engineering, electronic engineering, laboratory and environmental engineering. Its oxide ceramic products are already indispensable in many fields, such as X-ray image intensifiers, pressure sensor diaphragms, bottling plants, oxygen sensors and high pressure pumps.

The Kyocera Group reports that by acquiring Friatec’s core business, which includes oxide ceramic parts and metallized ceramic parts, it will provide full-service and technical support for production and distribution in the European market, and the group will continue to invest in product research and development. And improve the ability of short-term delivery, and further expand the competitiveness of the business in the European market.

In April this year, Kyocera acquired Germany-based H.C. Starck Ceramics Co., Ltd., a company specializing in the production of non-oxide fine ceramic components. This acquisition assists Kyocera in completing the layout of the first advanced ceramic production line in Europe, and strategically meeting the growing demand for advanced ceramic components from industrial machinery.

Kyocera announced that it has signed a share transfer contract for the acquisition of an American company, Southern Carlson, Inc. (abbreviated as SC). The company sells professional tools, joints (nails, staples, etc.), packaging materials and equipment for the construction industry in North America. With this acquisition of SC, the Kyocera Group will provide a wider range of products for various end markets such as construction and manufacturing in North America.
