Kyulux and Soda Co., Ltd. cooperate to develop the third-generation OLED light-emitting material TADF

Fukuoka, Japan, October 14, 2020 – Kyulux Corporation announced that it has signed a joint development agreement with Nippon Soda. The content of the agreement involves the next-generation OLED light-emitting material technology-new compounds for TADF.

According to the official website of kyulux, Nippon Soda celebrated its 100th anniversary in February this year, and hopes to develop new products and expand new businesses through the long-term management vision "2030 Chemical Glory" and the three-year mid-term business plan "Phase One Chemical Glory" . Nippon Soda has advanced organic material development capabilities and extensive synthesis knowledge accumulated over the years. After the signing of the agreement, Nippon Soda will work on the joint development of the above-mentioned intermediates to help improve the performance and quality of Kyulux TADF materials (excluding rare metals). In addition, it will also focus on improving the production efficiency of new compounds.

Kyulux is a fabless start-up company dedicated to the development of TADF / Hyperfluorescence™ (the next generation of OLED light-emitting materials and technology). As an alternative to the LCD market, the OLED display market will continue to grow rapidly. With the introduction of 5G communication technology in the future, the market will further increase its power consumption and performance requirements. TADF luminescent material is a new power consumption and performance optimization technology. This technology and corresponding materials do not contain rare metals (which have an impact on the environment) like current phosphorescent luminescent materials. In fact, Kyulux’s updated Hyperfluorescence™ technology needs to borrow TADF to achieve further efficiency improvements. OLED panels based on this luminescent material and technology can better achieve high resolution, high color purity, low energy consumption and low cost.

Junji Adachi, President of Kyulux, said: “As a start-up company, we have been developing next-generation OLED light-emitting materials, but before commercialization, the production of these high-quality and low-cost TADF materials has always been an important issue. We really appreciate it. Kyulux and Nippon Soda have established a long-term close cooperative partnership. The joint development agreement signed this time will become a major event in the OLED display industry. After that, we will soon see the mass production of these new TADF luminescent materials."

Dr. Natsuki Amanokura of Nippon Soda Chemical Business Development Department commented: “The ability to jointly develop new TADF intermediates with Kyulux is the result of open innovation we are pursuing. We can use this to combine the company’s and Kyulux’s expertise in each other’s fields Combine it together and build a beautiful win-win relationship. I look forward to future business development."
