On April 23, 2018, LANXESS developed a new polyester prepolymer Vibrathane 7085 for hot-cast elastomers. It has MDI end groups (diphenylmethane diisocyanate) that can be cured into 1,4-butanediol into a cast polyurethane elastomer. It is characterized by low compression set and high tear resistance at 83 to 87 Shore specialty.
Related applications include die-cutting blankets and anvils, bushings for torque bars for trucks, buses, and trailers, and sound-insulating vibrating screens for ore processing.
