Leading carbon fiber composite manufacturer SGL and Airbus Helicopter draw up framework cooperation agreement to expand the application of composite materials in the field of helicopters

SGL Group's official website said on January 8 that the company and Airbus Helicopter (Germany), a subsidiary of Airbus Group, have drawn up a framework agreement to further deepen cooperation. Previously, the two parties have long worked together to provide Airbus Group with the composite materials needed to produce aircraft doors. In the future, the scope of cooperation between the two parties will be extended to the field of helicopters, and will be deepened to jointly develop innovative carbon fiber / glass fiber composite materials required for helicopter manufacturing. In the first new cooperation project to be launched, the two parties will provide fabrics for structural parts of Airbus helicopters.

Andreas Erber, head of the aviation sector at SGL Group's Composites Division, said: "The drafting of this agreement is a milestone and the result of long-term mutual trust and cooperation between the two parties. In the development of innovative composite materials for helicopter parts, the two parties' R & D The team has made significant progress. In the process, SGL Group has contributed all its knowledge and experience in the production of composite materials. "

According to the SGL Group, in addition to maintaining a long-term bilateral cooperation relationship with Airbus Helicopters, the two parties have also participated in many industry organizations and research and development projects in the field of composite materials, such as the German Carbon Composites e.V Association.
