Lubrizol Expands Pearlbond’s Toluene-Free Thermoplastic Polyurethane TPU Product Portfolio for Rubber Powders, Films, and Meshes

Lubrizol's Engineering Polymers business unit announced that its Pearlbond product portfolio will add a new toluene-free thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) for rubber powders, films, and webs. Lubrizol has expanded the PearlBond (TM) TPU product portfolio for high melt strength adhesive formulations by adding PearlBond (TM) 1170L to the PearlBond (TM) 1160 and 1160L series.

These high-performance resins are widely used in demanding end-use applications, including fire hoses, thermal adhesive films for footwear, furniture, clothing, sealing tapes, and automotive interiors. This product portfolio is an ideal lightweight solution for environmentally friendly (toluene-free) applications, with the following main advantages: short production cycles, good wetting properties, and excellent water resistance. In addition, due to their gel-free properties and high melt strength, they are ideal resins for film and sheet conversion applications.

Gonzalo Löwenberg, Global Technology Business Manager, Lubrizol Engineering Polymers, said: "Adhesive formulators who want to produce efficient, low-cost and recyclable hot melt products will be pleased with the new Pearlbond (TM) product. Pearlbond (TM) 1170L Polymers combine these characteristics and improve heat resistance, washability, and dry cleaning resistance. Lubrizol's new product for demanding applications has excellent versatility, reliability, and convenience for customers Will be satisfied with this. "
