Lubrizol to Exhibit Integrated Technology Solutions for Highly Flexible Electronics at IDTechEx 2018

October 29, 2018-The Lubrizol Corporation announces that its Specialty Polymers business unit will participate in the IDTechEx exhibition at the Santa Clara Convention Center in California, USA from November 14th to 15th, 2018, and will be exhibited at booth N28 product. IDTechEx will showcase the latest advances in emerging technologies, including 3D printing, electric vehicles, energy storage, graphene, the Internet of Things, printed electronics, sensors and wearable technologies.

Under the theme of the show, Lubrizol will showcase innovative technologies in its engineering polymers and high-performance coatings business to "connect emerging technologies with global brands." These technologies are particularly suitable for electronics, including flexible hybrid electronics, wearables, mobile devices and accessories, and 3D printing.

In order to demonstrate the value of its comprehensive technology integration solution, Lubrizol will launch a prototype of its custom-designed "Multi-Tech Commute (MTC)" for presentation, explanation, and participation to participants Touch. MTC jackets are designed for fashion and functional wear, using Lubrizol materials to ensure functionality, comfort and durability during the life of the garment.

Designed for sport and activity comfort, the jacket is stretchy denim and polyester that moves and breathes with the wearer. The flexible circuit heating elements on the inside of the back of the jacket can provide warmth as needed, which is ideal for environments with large temperature fluctuations or the transition from commuting to indoor comfort without the need for additional clothes. Fabric treatments at the elbows and palms enhance the durability of the garment, while stretch-restrictive coatings printed on conductive traces protect the circuit during use and during washing.

The technologies behind the performance of the Lubrizol Multi-Functional Commuter (MTC) Jacket include:

● Stretchable flexible printed circuit using high-performance Estane® thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) film and flexible ink additives

● Comfortable stretch denim fabric and lining, using X4zol-J (TM) TPU fiber for added comfort

● Electronic connector housing, 3D printing using Estane TPU, with tensile and impact resistance

● Conductive trace protection through Performax (TM) conductive ink coating

● Performax fabric treatment coating for excellent durability and abrasion resistance

Taken individually, each of these innovative technologies offers significant advantages, achieving much-needed functionality in highly flexible electronic applications, as well as form factor, fit, and fashion. By combining these technologies, Lubrizol has become a source of this technology and applied know-how supported by a collaboration-based corporate culture.
