Luminous ceramics

1. Luminous ceramics

Luminous ceramic is a product obtained by melting high-tech luminescent color into traditional ceramic glaze and firing at high temperature. It can absorb a variety of natural light (sunlight/other scattered light) and absorb the remaining light energy. After activation, it will automatically emit light when placed in a dark environment. Generally speaking, luminescent ceramics are new ceramic products that have long afterglow photoluminescence materials added in the production process of ordinary ceramics to make them have self-luminous functions.

Luminous ceramics have excellent mechanical strength, wear resistance, water resistance, weather resistance, and light storage and luminescence performance, and do not contain any radioactive elements, non-toxic and harmless to humans, green and environmentally friendly; light absorption and storage energy can be activated and strengthened The luminous time is more than 15 hours, the luminous performance can be repeated, and the luminous performance can be maintained for a long time.

2. Synthetic method of luminescent ceramics

There are three main methods for synthesizing luminescent ceramics:

① The powder of the luminescent material is directly fired into a luminous ceramic block, which is then processed into finished products of various shapes. The new generation of aluminate and silicate long afterglow luminescent materials are themselves functional ceramics.

② Mix the luminescent materials with traditional ceramic raw materials uniformly, and directly burn the luminous ceramic products.

③ First fire the luminescent ceramic glaze, apply the luminescent ceramic glaze to the surface of the ceramic body, and fire into a ceramic product with surface luminescence.

3. Types of luminescent ceramics

According to the different firing temperature of luminescent ceramic glaze, it can be divided into three categories:

① Low-temperature leaded ceramic glaze: the firing temperature of this kind of glaze is between 700~820℃, the products fired with this glaze have the advantages of large refractive index and good gloss, and the expansion coefficient of the glaze Small, can be well integrated with the green body.

②Medium-temperature luminous ceramic glaze: The firing temperature of this kind of glaze is 980~1050℃. There are various firing methods, such as spraying, screen printing and hand-painting, which can be used as a base glaze The glaze particles are made into third-degree burned products. Intermediate temperature ceramic luminous glaze is mainly used in building ceramics, and is made into a night indicator for indoor use, fireproof and safety sign ceramic products, which has the advantages of flame retardance and aging resistance.

③High-temperature ceramic luminous glaze: The firing temperature of this kind of glaze is about 1200℃, which is similar to that of daily-use ceramics and high-end building ceramics. The finished product has high luminous intensity and long afterglow time.

4. The technological process of luminescent ceramics

Preparation process flow: mix and mix the luminous glaze at a set ratio, and then apply it on the ceramic blank or ceramic glaze surface by spraying glaze, pouring glaze, screen printing, manual drawing, stacking glaze, etc. A layer of transparent glaze can be applied on the glaze surface as needed. After drying, it is fired according to different formulas of the basic glaze to obtain light-emitting luminescent ceramic products.

5. How to use luminous ceramic glaze

①Mix the luminous ceramic glaze with the printing oil at a ratio of 1: (0.5~0.6) and stir evenly. It is screen printed on the unfired top glaze with 100~120 mesh screen, dried and fired in the roller kiln of rapid firing process, firing time is 40~90min.

②Mix the luminous ceramic glaze with the printing oil at a ratio of 1:0.4, stir evenly to make it thick, use 40~60 mesh screen printing on the glazed tile, dry it thoroughly, then overprint the ceramic pigment, and finally use 30~40 Mesh screen printing pile glaze dry powder. After drying, it is fired in a roller kiln using a rapid firing process. The firing time is 40 to 90 minutes, which is a whole luminous product.

③ After mixing the luminous ceramic glaze with water and stirring it evenly, spray it evenly on the white glazed bricks or green bricks, then apply a thin layer of transparent glaze on it, dry it and burn it in the roller kiln of the rapid firing process The sintering time is 40~90min, and it becomes a whole luminous product.

④Mix the luminous ceramic glaze with the printing oil or water and mix well. It is painted on the surface of the product by hand-painting, after being thoroughly dried, it is fired in the roller kiln of the rapid firing process, and the firing time is 40~90min.

⑤The luminous ceramic flower paper is made of luminous ceramic glaze, and the luminescent ceramic is produced by the method of flower paper transfer.

6. Market application of luminescent ceramics

The unique characteristics of the luminescent ceramic make it prevent the application of various low-level lighting, decorative lighting and various nameplate displays at night indoor and outdoor. Such as low-brightness lighting at night, such as homes and hospital wards, building corridors, room nameplates, cinema seats, safety doors, electrical lighting, darkroom lighting power, luminous slippers, luminous phone handles, etc.

Luminous ceramics can also be used in the design of various decoration of buildings due to the performance of ceramics, such as: luminous gypsum ceiling, hanging shed, neon decoration, decorative painting, luminous tiles, etc. Luminous ceramics are artistically ornamental and can also be used to make exquisite luminous ceramic polyester crafts, luminous pearls, luminous sculptures, large strokes, various clocks, instruments, indicator dials and hands of instruments.
