Magna electronics factory opens to boost ADAS component output

According to foreign media reports, auto parts supplier Magna announced the official opening of a new electronic equipment production plant in Michigan, USA. The new plant will help Magna increase the production of ADAS (advanced driver assistance) systems (especially sensors such as cameras). ) And accelerate the large-scale deployment of future technologies such as advanced robots.

Production, ADAS Components, Magna Electronics Factory Opened

It is reported that the new plant covers an area of 230,000 square feet (about 21,000 square meters) and a total investment of about 50 million US dollars (about 350 million yuan). The new plant integrates three nearby factories into an advanced production base, including Magna Electronics Holly, an LED lighting factory and a research and development center.

In the global ADAS market, Magna holds a large market share. However, unlike suppliers such as Bosch and China, Magna's ADAS system is mainly based on vision sensor technology, that is, cameras. Magna Electronics Holly has been committed to the research and development of ADAS components. Since 2005, the factory has produced more than 46 million car-grade cameras. Currently, Magna produces about 12 million cameras worldwide annually.

In addition to producing ADAS components, the new plant is also home to Magna's advanced robotics R & D testing laboratory. The R & D center mentioned above is focused on the development of artificial intelligence and advanced robots. With the continuous progress of artificial intelligence technology, Magna is introducing more smart factory concepts into its operations. This new laboratory will test the adaptability, flexibility and human-machine cooperation of robots.

In addition to the opening of the new electronics factory, Magna also recently invested $ 60 million (about 425 million yuan) in the construction of a plant for the production of automotive seat structures. The seat plant will be officially put into production in the first quarter of 2020. In 2019, the entire automotive industry is in a slump, and parts suppliers are not having a good time, and some companies have begun layoffs to reduce costs. In contrast, Magna does not seem to intend to tighten its budget, and its investment measures have strengthened the confidence of industrial development.
