MakerBot, a subsidiary of 3D printing expert Stratasys, introduces METHOD carbon fiber reinforced nylon material to replace metal parts

MakerBot, a subsidiary of 3D printing expert Stratasys, launched the METHOD carbon fiber version, which can produce automotive carbon fiber reinforced nylon materials through 3D printing technology, taking 3D printing to a new level.

METHOD Carbon Fiber Platform

The new carbon fiber version is designed to enable engineers to print out stronger and more precise parts to better adapt to tooling. This carbon fiber version is the latest product of the METHOD platform. It can print automotive carbon fiber reinforced nylon materials to improve the strength and heat resistance of the material. The new carbon fiber version is equipped with a new composite extruder, which can print carbon fiber reinforced nylon materials for automobiles. The new nylon carbon fiber material is an ideal substitute for metal, which can be used in automobile structural parts, such as vehicle fixing frames and instruments, engine compartments, etc. As we all know, automotive carbon fiber is widely used in automobile manufacturing due to its powerful thermal and mechanical properties. As a substitute for metal parts, METHOD provides new technical support for the application of automotive carbon fiber in the automotive industry.

The relevant person in charge said: "Car carbon fiber reinforced nylon is one of the most sought-after and exciting materials. Due to its high strength, heat resistance and stiffness performance, this material is very suitable for replacing metal parts, thereby further reducing costs . With the launch of this series, we are trying more 3D printing composite applications. METHOD carbon fiber is the latest member of the rapidly growing 3D printing platform. "

It can produce automotive carbon fiber reinforced nylon parts with stable quality and stable surface finish. Users can use MakerBot's PVA soluble substrate to print complex geometric shapes with internal voids, and use the new annealing function of the heating chamber to harden the material and ultimately increase the strength of the part. This carbon fiber version allows users to print complex geometries using the soluble Stratasys SR-30 substrate, resulting in better surface quality. The system's drying chamber helps keep automotive carbon fiber-reinforced wet nylon materials dry, resulting in better print quality.

MakerBot plans to provide more color page composite extruders and carbon fiber versions for 3D printed composites in the future. Since the system's chamber temperature is as high as 110 ° C, it will support a wider range of high-performance composite manufacturing.

METHOD 3D printing platform is very suitable for 3D printing of high-quality materials. The printed parts have high precision and can be applied to a variety of raw materials.
