After successfully developing special steel for aircraft carrier plywood, Chinese special steel manufacturers AGJT successfully realized the development of 316H austenitic stainless steel products for the fourth-generation nuclear power 600MW demonstration fast reactor project, and completed the first batch of contract supply, which solved the problem Some "stuck neck" puzzles. AGJT therefore became the only company in the world to rely solely on its own equipment to produce the product.

With the pressure of economic development and environmental degradation in various countries around the world, the construction of nuclear power and the use of nuclear energy have become the focus of the next 10 to 20 years. China has made significant progress in the development and construction of nuclear power. The third-generation nuclear power technology has reached the world advanced level, and the fourth-generation nuclear power technology has reached the international advanced level. Among them, the 600MW demonstration fast reactor project of the fourth generation nuclear power is leading the development of the industry and represents the direction of nuclear energy development. It has extremely important strategic significance.

As a demonstration fast reactor, the project has extremely strict safety requirements for equipment, and key equipment mainly uses 316H austenitic stainless steel. However, in terms of comprehensive properties and structure, it is very different from conventional 316H austenitic stainless steel, especially in terms of ferrite, grain size, intergranular corrosion, and uniformity requirements of the steel plate head and tail properties. So much so that during the period of material tendering, foreign established nuclear power stainless steel production enterprises were discouraged and thought that the material design was unreasonable and refused to bid.

316H austenitic stainless steel has already become the "stuck neck" material for nuclear power equipment. On January 1, 2019, relevant leaders of AGJT Group organized a mobilization meeting for the production of 316H austenitic stainless steel, and identified the development of 316H austenitic stainless steel as the “No. 1 Project” of AGJT. Faced with national needs, the AGJT Nuclear Power Project team has fully undertaken the project's R & D, production and supply tasks in conjunction with the contract. Under the circumstances of overcoming many unfavorable factors such as stainless steel research and development, low production experience, numerous products involving units, complicated procedures and strict technical requirements, the Group's advantages were fully utilized, and AGJT Lianzhong, AGJT Casting Company and AGJT Co., Ltd. established the steel A suitable production process route and successfully achieved product development and first contract supply.

In the next step, the AGJT nuclear power steel project team will continue to carry out in-depth research and development of the product, further optimize the production process, improve the process route, reduce production costs, shorten the manufacturing cycle, and fully support the construction of the fourth-generation nuclear power 600MW demonstration fast reactor project in China.
