Medtronic’s Intelligent Surgical Anastomosis Platform: Surgical Stapling Products appears at 2020 CIIE

On November 8th, in the Medtronic exhibition area at the 3rd CIIE, the innovative surgical intelligent anastomosis platform that will be launched on the Chinese market was unveiled.

As the world's first reusable intelligent anastomosis platform, it is equipped with smart chip-linked sensor technology to assist doctors in making decisions, making surgery easier and bringing more possibilities for endoscopic surgery.

It is reported that in the "old" operation, suture ligation and suture were used after the lesion was removed. Not to mention the long operation time, but also because of the differences between the individual patients and the doctor's methods, the treatment effects vary widely.

The working principle of the stapler is like a stapler in life. For the lesion, surrounding tissues and large blood vessels, it can be stapled and cut while stitching, making the entire operation safer and more convenient.

It has been half a century since the large-scale popularization of staplers has been used in about 40 types of surgery, especially in lung cancer, colorectal cancer, gastric cancer and liver cancer and other tumor surgery.

The operation method has also evolved from being only used for open surgery and manual operation, to being suitable for laparoscopic surgery and relying on electric power, but these evolutions cannot meet all the clinical needs of surgery.

Nowadays, with the further development of medical services, the complexity of surgery continues to increase. Especially in tumor surgery, the differences in the patient's body and the comprehensive treatment of tumors all affect the characteristics of human tissues, posing higher challenges to surgeons.

The intelligent anastomosis platform is loaded with high-performance chips, microprocessors and sensors, and is equipped with an LED screen, which can automatically identify and calculate the thickness of the tissue, and provide real-time information feedback through the display screen, reminding the doctor to choose the appropriate staple cartridge, and in operation Automatically adjust the appropriate firing force and speed, and perform personalized and accurate anastomosis of different organs and tissues according to their characteristics, helping doctors to achieve personalized surgical treatment in minimally invasive endoscopic surgery that cannot directly see and touch the internal tissues of the human body.
