Merck’s Millipore Express membrane material processing plant in Germany completed

Merck, a  global leading technology company, held a topping-out ceremony for its new membrane material processing plant in Darmstadt, Germany. After the construction of the new plant, the company plans to increase the production of its Millipore Express membrane material, which is a key component of the Millipore Express membrane and helps ensure the sterility of biological drugs.

The project is worth more than 140 million euros and is part of the company's 1 billion euro investment in its global headquarters by 2025 announced last year. The construction work started in March this year and is expected to be completed in 2022, and then the production process will be verified and commercialized. The new four-layer film factory will be equipped with immersion film casting equipment, quality control laboratories and offices.

Merck has more than 50 years of experience in sterile filtration components and is an industry leader, providing the most comprehensive portfolio of products, services and testing products for biopharmaceutical production.

Millipore Express membrane materials and Durapore membrane materials are now produced at the Film Manufacturing Center of Excellence in Cork, Ireland. The Merck Life Sciences Center in Cork will remain a key manufacturing facility in the company's global network.
