Milliken to showcase polyurethane foam products at North American Foam Expo 2019

At the 2019 North American Foam Expo next week, Milliken will showcase polyurethane foam products with certain characteristics at the booth. Of course, this is Milliken's global supply of colorants and other additives that reduce foam emissions and improve indoor and car air quality. The company will exhibit at booth 1810 at the expo from March 26th to 28th.

The main products include Milliken's Polyurethane (PU) Reactint series, which is described as a reactive polymer liquid colorant composed of a chromophore chemically combined with a polyol. According to Milliken, the colorants react with the polyurethane polymer matrix to produce dark, bright foam. It is used in polyurethane slabstock foam and comes in several primary colors including blue, orange, red, yellow, purple and black, but can be formulated into almost any color.

Milliken claims that color helps to give the foam a brand image and shows that the product has a certain quality. It also highlights the differentiated characteristics of comfort, elasticity or breathability that polyurethane foam can bring to any product.

Milliguard AOX antioxidant additives will also be on display, which protects polyurethane and other thermoset polymers from oxidation and degradation. This additive is specifically designed to support polyurethane flexible blowing agents, polyol suppliers and other polyurethane producers. It improves the final polyurethane by preventing odor degradation by-products and discoloration caused by exposure to light, heat and nitrogen oxide pollution. The quality and durability of the components. This polymer additive also helps manufacturers meet stringent environmental and air quality standards by reducing volatile organic compound (VOC) and outgassing condensation (FOG) emissions.

"Mericon continues to develop technologies that help improve air quality in cars and meet the latest and most stringent automotive industry requirements," said Jesse Shoultz, global product line manager for polyurethane colorants and additives. "Milliguard AOX technology plays an important role in reducing the generation of aldehydes in polyurethane foam, but Milliken is still investing in development activities to bring other aldehyde reduction solutions to market."

Another Milliken product is Milliguard UVX, which protects polyurethanes from yellowing and degradation caused by UV exposure. The product is available in liquid form, is easy to handle and meter, and can help polyurethane producers and processors provide environmentally friendly and durable polyurethane products with low VOC and FOG emissions. These UV absorbers are reactive and widely used in textile and automotive polyurethane foams.
