Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) has entered into a deal with ExxonMobil to provide reaction, finishing, transportation and other equipment for its new large-scale polyethylene production line in Beaumont, USA.
Under the agreement, MHI will also provide plants with ancillary equipment for water, air and steam.
The new production line is planned to be completed in 2019, when the annual capacity of polyethylene is expected to be 650,000 tons.
Polyethylene is used in the production of plastic products, such as architectural films, shopping bags and product packaging.
MHI Chairman and CEO Shunichi Miyanaga said: Mitsubishi is very honored to continue to cooperate with ExxonMobil, a leading brand in the petrochemical industry. At the same time, MHI will insist on providing high-quality services and products, focusing on safe production and management, just like Mitsubishi's projects in Texas and Singapore.
At present, MHI is also constructing two polyethylene units at ExxonMobil's Montebelu Project in Texas.
