Mitsui Chemicals & SKC Polyurethanes Co., Ltd joint venture “MCNS” celebrates production of Indian polyurethane plant

MCNS celebrates the commissioning of its new joint venture polyurethane plant 'MCNS Polyurethanes India Pvt. Ltd. (MCNS-IN)' in Sri City, Andhra Pradesh, India, and begins commercial operations.

Established in February 2017, with a total investment of USD 7.3 million (800 million yen), the new plant will produce and sell polyurethane products.

The plant's production capacity is 15,000 tons / year. Commercial operations began in July 2018. The opening ceremony was held on August 8, 2018.

The plant is a 50:50 joint venture consisting of Mitsui Chemicals and SKC Polyurethane Co., Ltd., Mitsui Chemicals & SKC Polyurethanes Co., Ltd. "MCNS".

The facility provides manufacturing and sales bases with high-quality services, such as adjusting polyurethane foam formulations, including derivatives of polyols, to meet the needs of individual customers.

With the opening of the new plant in Sri City, MCNS will be able to provide its Korean and Japanese customers in India with high-quality products in a stable manner and will expand its supply to Indian companies in the future.

Compared to other countries, India's polyurethane usage is high. India produces 4.7 million cars every year, and the polyurethane material is highly used, making it the fifth largest polyurethane user in the world. Korean and Japanese manufacturers account for 70% of India's total car production and 50% of total refrigerator production.
