Morgan Advanced Materials develops new technology to shorten lead time for brazing alloys

Morgan Advanced Materials, a global leader in materials manufacturing, has significantly improved its brazing alloy services in the United States. The move is designed to support customers who need mission-critical components for aerospace, medical, and industrial applications.

The brazing alloys produced by Morgan's brazing alloys business are tailored to customer requirements. A large number of components made with Morgan materials are designed to strict specifications, and the alloy itself can be developed to specific requirements.

Many applications of brazing alloys are used for research and development projects, and for small batch orders, rapid feedback of relevant technical information and data is required. To address the urgency of contract brazing companies, Morgan has dedicated resources to address these issues, while also working to shorten lead times for common alloys.

The FTSE Index provides precious and non-precious brazing alloys, pre-sintered preforms (PSP), and brazing inhibitors such as Stopyt, which prevent the flow of molten solder metal.

Adam Ebert (Morgan Advanced Materials-Brazing Alloy Business R & D Manager) said, "One of Morgan's most powerful capabilities is its superior material R & D capabilities. This is how our brazing alloys are so popular and trusted by customers. Key reason. We are eager to continue to contribute our knowledge and products in the fastest possible time. This has enabled us to reduce the delivery time of some of the most common products, including our popular Nioro alloys as well as aluminum-copper and copper-silver alloys . Our goal now is to make a three-day transformation on any product across the United States. "

In addition to shortening lead times, Morgan has streamlined its IT systems, including the quotation process. This includes a new dedicated email and communication system designed to handle emergency needs. Even if the customer service system is down, there are now backups to ensure that service requests are not lost.

According to Adam Ebert, "One of the things we are proud of is customer service. We are now working with all our customers to develop quote response time and inventory management for them. To this end, our continuous improvement team implements this in the customer service process. This standardizes operations and eliminates bottlenecks in our system. This has reduced the average quote time from more than 25 hours to less than 18 hours. "

At the core of Morgan's continued development of brazing alloy products is the Center for Metals and Excellence (CoE) in Hayward, California. The plant focused on providing new materials science and process solutions and launched in October 2017.

The research centre is the latest addition to Morgan's growing network of international cutting-edge materials research facilities, joining its already established CoE in the UK: Insulating Fibers and Structural Ceramic Facility. Morgan plans to spend 4% of its sales on research and development over the next four years.
