New breakthrough for touchscreen cover glass SCHOTT Xensation® 3D glass upgrade is coming soon

We use our smartphones 76 times a day and touch the display screen nearly 3,000 times a day, making them a must-have for modern life. Even the tiniest scratches, cracks or blemishes can cause users to feel uncomfortable. With Xensation® 3D cover glass, SCHOTT, as a global technology group, has successfully established itself in the smartphone cover glass market. Since 2011, SCHOTT has been supplying lithium aluminum silicon glass to China's leading smartphone manufacturers and has become a pioneer in lithium aluminum silicon glass production.

Next-generation glass: better than ever

Xensation® 3D glass produced by the SCHOTT Group is even better: the improved composition has been fine-tuned to even further improve the resistance to drop damage to sharp objects (through the entire machine drop test). This performance is achieved through a special production and strengthening process. Through ion exchange, a stress layer of potassium and sodium ions is formed on the glass surface. This process achieves an unprecedented depth of the stress layer in the chemical strengthening process. In contrast, traditional cover glass only has a stress layer of potassium ions after the chemical strengthening process.

"The cover glass market desperately needs to diversify. SCHOTT has launched a high-performance cover glass, which is our advanced Xensation® 3D. The excellent results of the entire machine drop test have given us a very attractive future. Layout, "said Dr. Reiner Mauch, head of the SCHOTT Group Xensation® plant. "Our goal is to further expand our cover glass market share with Xensation® 3D series products through continued in-depth product development. By 2019, we hope to provide daily protection for 100 million smartphones."

SCHOTT's outstanding performance is mainly due to the increased demand for high-quality glass from touch screen devices such as smartphones. The strong demand in the past few months has pushed the production of cover glass to a peak, and SCHOTT has ensured efficient supply, sensitive response, and continuous and reliable product quality. SCHOTT has been granted a series of fully certified and valid patents, especially in the field of cover glass.

130+ years of excellence in glass development

Following Xensation® and Xensation® 3D, SCHOTT will soon launch an upgraded version of "Made in Germany" cover glass. This latest development of Xensation® 3D stems from the joint efforts of Schott engineers from China and Germany to further improve the ion exchange performance of glass.

SCHOTT cover glass strikes strongly

An upgraded version of Xensation® 3D is coming soon, marking the continuous progress of SCHOTT cover glass. SCHOTT has launched a number of special and breakthrough key technologies based on specialty glass materials in this program, which are driving innovation in mobile devices.

Compared to Xensation® 3D cover glass (available in thicknesses from 0.4 mm to 1.1 mm), SCHOTT is also continuously developing ultra-thin glass that is thinner than human hair. This flexible material can be used to make foldable smartphones or flexible displays. The ultra-thin glass thickness can reach 0.07mm, which is 32 times thinner than a 1 euro coin.
