NGK, TOTO, Nippon Koga Electric, and Noritake Co. Limited announced that it will jointly fund a joint venture on December 1 to advance mass production of solid oxide fuel cells

The senior officials of the four companies said at a press conference that previously, each company insisted on the research and development of solid oxide fuel cells alone, but due to technical and financial reasons, mass production has not been achieved. Toto retired the fuel cell R & D department two years ago.

However, the four partners expressed great confidence in the newly established joint venture company in this time. Takashima Oshima, the head of Japan's obstacle company, believes that by sharing the R & D experience of various partners, the technology level of the solid oxide fuel cell of the joint venture will be further improved, and the areas involved in the development of subsequent cooperative companies are expected to expand. At present, the joint venture company estimates that the number of employees is 60-100.

In fact, the four parties of this cooperation belong to the Morimura Group. The advantages of the four companies are concentrated in the field of ceramic technology. This cooperation is a necessary choice in the context of the global development of new energy and hydrogen energy industries. Due to the popularity of electric vehicles (EVs), Japanese impediments and special ceramics, which are mainly engaged in engine and auto parts, may have insufficient demand in the future, and TOTO's performance in China will also decline. The business has major limitations, and the cooperation between the four companies has practical urgency.
