Nitto Denko Corporation and Nippon Electric Glass have jointly developed ultra-thin glass polarizers! The world’s first R2R process with a thickness of 100μm

Nitto Denko Corporation is now cooperating with Nippon Electric Glass (NEG) to achieve mass production of the "ultra-thin glass polarizing film" successfully developed by its outstanding roll-to-roll process .

By combining NEG's ultra-thin glass product G-Leaf® with Nitto's various high-performance resin films, the two companies promote the development of new materials with unprecedented new functions. The product developed this time is the world's first product that integrates NEG's ultra-thin glass G-Leaf® and Nitto's polarizing film through a roll to roll process. The thickness of the glass polarizer is only 100μm. . Because the product is very light and thin, it can be used as a display cover by reducing the parallax between the outermost surface of the display and the image display surface, thereby greatly improving the visual effect and the sensitivity of the touch sensor. In addition, it also has the unique texture, smoothness and hardness of glass.

This ultra-thin glass polarizer uses Nitto`s original roll-to-roll process technology to form a precise adhesive layer between NEG’s G-Leaf® roll material with a length of more than 1 km that has been determined to be mass-produced and Nitto`s thin polarizer. Press into a roll. Currently, Nitto is preparing for mass production to respond to the display field as soon as possible.

About G-Leaf®

G-Leaf® is an ultra-thin glass produced by Nippon Electric Glass using the overflow method, with a thickness of 200 μm (0.2 mm) or less. This technology has been studied for many years. The ultra-thin glass not only has high light transmittance, hardness, surface smoothness, gas barrier properties, heat resistance, etc., but it can also be bent or rolled into a roll. Due to its characteristics, we are working hard to adopt it in fields such as flexible devices and touch screens. G-Leaf® is a registered trademark of Nippon Electric Glass Co., Ltd.
