Novel Crystal Technology, funded by Japanese electronic components companies such as Tamura Manufacturing Co., Ltd. and AGC, has successfully mass-produced 100mm wafers made of a new generation of power semiconductor material "gallium oxide" for the first time in the world, and will start supplying wafers in 2021 .
Power semiconductors are components used for high-current control applications such as railways and industrial equipment, and are expected to expand their use in the pure electric vehicle (EV) field. It is understood that the price of gallium oxide wafers is lower than that of silicon carbide wafers, and it can control electricity more efficiently.
