Protean has introduced a 360-degree integrated wheel system solution that integrates steering, suspension, motor, and pneumatic suspension height control systems to provide superior vehicle mobility. The task of the next generation of urban transportation is to smoothly and efficiently transport people and goods in busy cities. The new 360-degree steering helps meet this need.
Protean360 + "corner module", with 360-degree steering and pneumatic lifting capabilities, can achieve full electronic control of driving, braking, chassis lifting and steering. The device includes a ProteanDrive in-wheel motor, rims and tires, as well as a miniature double wishbone suspension system. The system's steering arm is equipped with a shock absorber, which allows the entire device to rotate 360 degrees, and can also lift the upper chassis pneumatically.
The 360-degree steering system's excellent maneuverability enables vehicles to drive on dense streets and accurately park in tight spaces. When parked, it can be lowered to the ground to easily load bulky cargo and provide access for passengers with reduced mobility. It is reported that the system is now in the development stage and is expected to be applied to a vehicle of a new energy automobile company at a suitable time.
